Things You Should Know About Parenting Groups

Have you ever thought "I don't think that group is for me. That’s for parents who HAVE to take the class!”

What if we told you that there are groups for anyone, in any stage of parenting? What if we told you there are even groups for the grandparents, aunts/uncles, or foster parents?

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

What do you get out of a group or class? Time to talk with other parents or caregivers, sharing information, learning from each other, and building relationships with others in your community. You might also learn some evidence-based information on child development, building secure connections with your child, and how to build protective factors in your family.

Who are these groups really for? These groups are all voluntary which means most of the attenders are there because they want to be! Many who join are looking for new suggestions, new ideas, or different ways to raise healthy kids. Everyone joins for different reasons, but they all learn something that will help their children grow healthier and happier!

How much time will it take? Most of our groups last anywhere from 1 ½ to 2 hours, some requiring weekly attendance and others are come as you can. A few options that do have minimal time needed outside of class.

Classes frequently offer gifts or giveaways at the end or for attending, but the biggest and best takeaway is always the new support you find for your family.
